The Cisco C-SM-40P8M2X is a high-density Ethernet Switch Service Module designed for the Cisco Catalyst 8300 Series Edge Platforms. It delivers full enterprise-class Layer 2 and Layer 3 LAN switching directly inside the branch router chassis, reducing the need for standalone access switches and streamlining branch operations. The module features 40 x 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 ports, 8 x Multi-Gigabit (mGig) Ethernet ports, and 2 x 10 Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ uplink ports, delivering flexible connectivity and high-speed data transfer. When paired with compatible platform power supplies, it provides robust Power over Ethernet (PoE+ and Cisco UPOE) capabilities to power Wi-Fi 6 access points, IP phones, and IoT endpoints.
